Knowledge is power.
You are only as good as your people. They often influence the customers'
feelings and perceptions about your company from their first contact. Are your
employees proficient in using the electronic distribution systems, and do they appreciate
the importance of these systems among the the other distribution channels? Do they
understand how these channels fit into your company's strategy and what the revenue
contribution is? How well trained are your national sales staff, GM, director of
sales, and reservation managers? Is there an opportunity to educate your corporate
management and your advertising firm about the continual changes in electronic
distribution?
Key Actions
- Provide training on electronic distribution and the interrelation between
marketing, operations, and technical components that are needed to make successful sales
and follow-up calls.
- Develop GDS, ADS, and Internet marketing, operations or technical materials
based on the needs of the audience.
- Provide education on the global and alternative distribution
systems and Internet travel sites.
- Provide training on topics, such as information consistency among
all distribution channels, preferred rate management, and commission processing.
